Cool Cat Houses
In late 2011, I was asked to build a cat shelter for a woman who has a cat sanctuary in Eastern Kentucky. She works with the local Humane Society as well as other local rescue groups to provide food and shelter for rescued cats, and to try to find homes for them. In addition to providing shelter, she also works toward getting the animals spayed and neutered. She has several individual shelter areas on her property that are used to house groups of cats that get along.
Initially I was going to build two separate “cat houses”, but as I began building, I soon realized that it would be just one cat house, which turned out to be very time consuming. Below are videos and pictures of the building from start to finish.
If anyone would like to donate to her rescue sanctuary, it would certainly would be appreciated. Providing food, litter and veterinary care for these animals comes with significant costs. She is currently taking care of around 75 cats. She is affiliated with the local Humane Society and all donations are tax deductible.
