My Cat Is Limping, What Do I Do?

What Causes A Limping Cat?

Symptoms of a Limping Cat

- Less active
- Refuse to put weight on the limb
- Reluctance to jump up or down
These are all normal symptoms and may not point to anything other than pain in a specific limb. However, if your cat suffers from the following symptoms, it could be something more serious than an injury:
- Pain when touched
- Missing fur around the affected limb
- Fever
- Heat on the limb
- Lump on the limb
Treating A Limping Cat
Before you treat the issue, you must first discover what is causing the problem. If it’s something minor, such as a cut or something stuck in the cat’s paw, you may be able to handle it yourself. However, if you suspect they have a broken bone or something serious, such as cancer, make sure you take your cat to the vet. They will run the proper test to find out the issue.

If you notice your indoor cat limping, it is less likely to be caused by an injury, and more likely to be the onset of arthritis.
