Cat Tree Rescue
On the morning of April 18, 2011, I was just getting off from work and talking with an associate about all of the flooding that had taken place. The weather had been just unbelievable for over a week, and in particular the previous four days had been constant hard wind and rain. The Cave Run Dam in Eastern Kentucky was at it’s highest point ever.
He proceeded to tell me about a cat that his daughter had seen in a tree, out in the lake, four days earlier. He then mentioned that as of the day before, the cat was still there. Then he pulled out his cell phone and said “Look, I took a picture of it.”
All I could say was “Well you know I’m going to be in that tree in two hours if that cat is still there.” Sure enough, two hours later I was in the tree. I set up a video camera to capture the rescue, or rescue attempt. I didn’t know how it would turn out, but I knew that if that cat had any hope of surviving, I was it’s only hope.
By the time I arrived, the cat was dangling lifeless. At first I thought she was already dead. Here is the video of how it all worked out.
